Moscovium-287

Properties and data of the isotope 287Mc.

Contents

Moscovium-287 is a radioisotope of the chemical element Moscovium, which, in addition to the element-specific 115 protons, has 172 neutrons in the atomic nucleus, resulting in the mass number 287. The very short-lived, only artificially producible, unstable and therefore radioactive nuclide has no practical significance; dealing with 287Mc is for academic purposes only.

The discovery and detection of the isotope was first reported in 2003; the synthesis succeeded through the nuclear reaction:

243Am(48Ca, 4n).
